At one point BDM installed in NYC was $10 a sq ft and the Ballast Mat was $10 a sq ft.

1/2 the money is going to ballast mat 90,000 sq ft project, $900,000 went to ballast protection, labor, expenses, NYC insurances cost, materials cost, who made more money the contractor or the ballast company?

The answer is the Ballast Mat Company, so we decided to do something about it, We called the head tech guy the Project.

We told them we need to be able to spay our own Ballast Mat, we examined the ballast mat, which only entailed little chips of rubber glued together , we knew we could do a better job then a floppy piece of rubber mat.

Our BDM can get the railroad ballast right over it without a mat, but even better we have our own ballast mat seamless system now.

Ray came up with a bullet proof expansion joint, making the entire deck seamless, The original Bridge Preservation joint was to tape the joint with butyl rubber or gorilla tape and then spray over, well that only worked on the transition areas. When it was used as an expansion joint on one of the meadowland projects the joints failed. We went down to do repairs on the joints to help out fix another contractor issues.

While bidding on the Culvertline, the President and tech guy come out to look at the project, on this project all of the BDM was to be covered in concrete and the only exposed are of our coating was the joints, at that point we told them we get this job we would pre make all the joints a our shop, that would ensure an even mil thickness, and also use a more flexible BDM ,like top coat. The rest is History.
